Pune: The Chinchwad police have booked three persons, including two women, from Wakad for preparing fake documents of an open plot and submitting the same to different government offices, including Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).
The plot belongs to a 68-year-old woman medical practitioner from Camp, who has filed an FIR against the suspects, an officer from the Chinchwad police said, adding that the forgeries were carried out since July.
The complainant said she owns the plot in question in Tathawade, Chinchwad. Her sister-in-law, who is also a senior citizen, is the co-owner of the plot. Police said they suspect that the cheating took place at the tehsildar office.
One of the suspects, the man, allegedly prepared fake documents to present the women as owners of the land to the revenue officers. The two other suspects, also signed the documents using names of the actual owners. This way, they got the fake land documents, police added.
Senior inspector Vitthal Kubade told TOI that the fake documents included a sale deed, registration and other papers, which were submitted to the office of the sub-registrar and land records.
The suspects then used these documents to obtain the 7/12 land extract of the property, claiming that the property is owned by the man, who is a resident of Ambedkarnagar in Wakad. Kubade said the prime suspect wanted to usurp the plot that was lying vacant. It was, however, protected by the real owners with fences.
The incident came to light when the complainant visited the plot and found that somebody had broken the fence. "There was a different fence and a board bearing another name. The woman enquired and realized that somebody had prepared fake documents of the land," the officer said.
