Rajkot: A 57-year-old man was hacked to death over a trivial issue of cattle grazing in Patiyari village of Vichhiya taluka in Rajkot district on Wednesday night. Police identified the deceased as Ogha Taviya.

Police said Ogha was attacked by Banna Taviya, his brother Valji, his son Haresh and residents of Patiyari village, who had armed themselves with axes, scythes and iron pipes.

"Ogha frequently entered into altercations with the accused trio over cattle grazing at the boundary of their farms. The accused alleged that Ogha's cattle had strayed into their farm and ruined the crops. On Wednesday night, they found Ogha's cattle grazing in their farm and drove them away. When Ogha came to fight with them, they attacked him and his son Rajesh," said an official from Vichchiya taluka police station where the case has been registered.

"While Ogha was killed on the spot, Rajesh survived the attack with injuries. He has been admitted to a government hospital where he is battling for life," added the official.
