Massive fire breaks out near Mumbai's Bandra station

Mumbai: A huge fire broke out on Thursday in the Behrampada slums near the Bandra railway station in Mumbai. The fire slowly reached the station engulfing the overhead pedestrian bridge at the station in flames at rush hour.

According to an IANS report, the fire broke out after a gas cylinder exploded during demolition of unauthorised constructions.

At least 16 fire engines and several water tankers have reached the spot to fight the fire. The sky is filled with thick black smoke which is visible for several kilometres.

So far two people, including one firefighter, have been injured.

Although the fire has been contained, efforts are on to extinguish the same.

More details are awaited.
