A scientist of Central Ground Water Board, who was arrested by the CBI in a graft case, has moved a bail application in the court. The hearing is on Friday. Sanjay Pandey was booked for allegedly taking a bribe of around Rs 2 lakh from industrialists to issue no-objection certificates for industrial use of ground water.

In the bail application, the defense counsel of Panday stated that the accused has been falsely implicated in the case and he was not caught red-handed. It was also mentioned in the application that the accused was not competent to forward the documents and papers for getting NOC. Pandey and technician Chander Prakash Midha of the IMT, a body under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, are named in the FIR registered by the CBI. The FIR has stated that both connived to get money from industries in Haryana and Punjab.

The duo allegedly helped a person, Swaraj Kandoi, and his employee Dinesh Kumar in getting NOC for Kandoi’s water packaging business in lieu of Rs 2 lakh bribe.
