Panaji: Be honest, strike a balance between work and home and work for 24 hours, chief minister Manohar Parrikar adviced the newly-inducted lady police sub inspectors (LPSI) on Thursday. The 32 LPSI were recruited by Goa police under a special drive aimed at women.
The CM held a meeting with the new inductees along with director general of police (DGP) Muktesh Chander, inspector general of police (IGP) Jaspal Singh and superintendents of police.
Twenty-two of these lady sub inspectors will be posted various police stations and 10 at the traffic cell.
Stating that they should not ask for postings that are close to their houses, Parrikar told the lady sub inspectors that they have to accept the hardships that come along in the profession they have chosen. "Different types of people come to police station and you have to properly attend to them," Parrikar said, adding that else these people will approach the human rights commission, state police complaint authority, etc.
Parrikar told TOI that he likes to meet with new police recruits to motivate them and appraise them about the challenges they will face in the course of their career.
"I have told them that the police personnels' job extends for 24 hours, which is why they draw salaries for 13 months," Parrikar said.
About media reports of police not getting food on time, Parrikar said he briefed the lady sub inspectors that duty comes first. Parrikar said police should be served vegetarian food while on duty, as non vegetarian food can upset the stomach.
Goa police held a special drive to recruit 79 lady police sub inspectors and 221 lady police constables. Out of a total 8,120 applications, Goa police selected only 32 lady police sub-inspectors and 172 lady police constables.
