KOCHI: A 60-year-old man, who was undergoing treatment for cancer at the District General Hospital, committed suicide by jumping into a river at Kadungallur on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as P.R. Ramachandran, son of late Raman Nair of Pulikkal, Muppathadam. Ramachandran, former block general secretary of the Congress, was reportedly depressed because of the prolonged illness. He went out of the hospital in the afternoon when the home nurse had gone for lunch . His body will be released to relatives after post-mortem on Thursday. He is survived by wife Rama.
