2 cops held while taking Rs 15,000 bribe

Pune: The state anti-corruption bureau (ACB) arrested sub-inspector Swati More and constable Harshal Shivarkar of Kondhwa police for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a relative of a man accused of rape.
The team apprehended both on the premises of the police station on Wednesday when they were accepting the bribe.
The 25-year-old son of the accused in the rape case lodged a complaint with the ACB after More demanded Rs 15,000 for her say in the case which would allow the accused to get bail.
More is investigating the case filed by a 46-year-old rape survivor from Kondhwa who is speech and hearing impaired. The accused (55), a resident of Lullanagar near Kondhwa, is currently lodged in Yerawada Central Prison.
The court is currently hearing the bail applications of the accused, additional superintendent of police, ACB, Prasad Hasabnis, said.
