IRCTC to launch flight tourism to Delhi, Bengaluru from city

Talks held with AP Tourism officials on connecting popular spots in State

The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) is planning to introduce a five-day Golden Triangle Tourism Packages to Delhi and Bengaluru from Vijayawada.

IRCTC Group General Manager (South Central Zone) D. Narasinga Rao, who was here as part of the ongoing ‘Paryatan Parv-2017’ said on Tuesday the IRCTC was operating tourism packages to famous shrines and tourist spots in Odisha, Gujarat and other States from Hyderabad, and was now focussing on arranging such packages from Vijayawada.

“The IRCTC’s Tirupati one-day package is a success. The Corporation staff will arrange transportation to Tirumala from Tirupati bus or railway station, ‘Seeghra Darshan’, meals and other facilities for ₹885”, he said.

Joint General Manager (Catering and Tourism) N. Sanjeevaiah said the IRCTC was planning to open an Executive Lounge on platform No.1 in Vijayawada station, which would be the first of its kind in the South Central Railway (SCR). “The Executive Lounge will have airconditioning, television, Wi-Fi, reading room, cafeteria, refreshing rooms, resting and other facilities. The staff will charge some amount from the public for two hours and passengers can avail themselves of the facility,” Mr. Sanjeevaiah said.

Deputy General Manager N.D. Bhujanga Rao said the IRCTC had held a meeting with the AP Tourism officials and discussed on introducing ‘Mukhyamantri Teerth Specials’.

“Once the discussions with the State tourism officials are fruitful, the IRCTC will arrange packages to the tourist spots in coastal districts,” Mr. Bhujanga Rao said.

Besides, the IRCTC is arranging a special package of Sabarimala Darshanam for Ayyappa devotees and many other projects were on the anvil, the DGM said.
