Market Now: BSE Telecom index rises; Bharti Airtel, Bharti Infratel among gainers

NEW DELHI: Gains in Tejas Networks (up 6.21 per cent), Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (up 4.27 per cent), Bharti Infratel (up 0.99 per cent) and Bharti Airtel (up 0.50 per cent) lifted BSE Telecom index into the green zone in Wednesday's trade.
The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.32 per cent up at 1,658 around 01:40 pm (IST). Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 77 points up at 10,285, while the BSE Sensex was up 408 points at 33,016.
However, Reliance Communications (down 3.53 per cent), Tata Communications (down 2.83 per cent), OnMobile Global (down 2.31 per cent), Aksh Optifibre (down 1.59 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (down 1.37 per cent) and Idea Cellular (down 0.30 per cent) were losing in trade around that time.
State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Axis Bank, Tata Motors, Wipro and Infosys were among the top gainers in the Sensex index.
However, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC, HDFC Bank, Lupin, Sun pharma, Asian Paints and Maruti Suzuki were among the top losers.
