International Energy Agency chief Fatih Birol met Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power and New and Renewable Energy RK Singh on Wednesday. In an official statement after the meeting, Birol, the Executive Director of the IEA, said, “India is moving to the centre of the global energy stage.” The two discussed the role of India on the emerging global energy stage, the steps that the country is taking to boost clean energy dependence of its economy, and the role that India can play in reducing global carbon footprint by using the IEA platform, the statement added.
