Rhian Brewster handed England the lead with an early goal, but Wesley scored from a rebound to level the game. However, it was Brewster once again who found the back of the net to make it 2-1. Brazil face England for a place in the final of the FIFA U-17 World Cup, at the iconic Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata today, with both sides boasting of unbeaten records going into this game. The match was initially supposed to take place in Guwahati, but it was shifted to Kolkata because of poor pitch conditions at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium. This is the first time that England are playing in the semifinals while Brazil will be looking to inch towards their fourth title. The only time England have beaten Brazil in a World Cup for men or boys was in the 2007 edition of the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Brazil avenged it in 2015 but having achieved what the men have not in four meetings spread from 1958, the England boys are eyeing an encore in Kolkata today.
Earlier, the match had been shifted from Guwahati due to unplayable conditions caused by incessant rains.
Both the third-place play-off, as well as the final of the tournament, are scheduled to be held in Kolkata on Saturday.
