Alwar/Jaipur: A major fire broke out inside the compound of a diaper manufacturing unit in the Japanese Zone of Industrial area in Neemrana located on the Jaipur-Delhi national highway late Tuesday night. The entire company was gutted in fire as fire tenders from Alwar and Haryana tried to contain sweeping flames from engulfing nearby companies and warehouses.
Officials said that products and machinery worth over several crores were gutted in the fire that showed no signs of subsiding even on Wednesday. "As many as 35 fire tenders from Haryana and different parts of Rajasthan are involved in the mission to douse the blaze, as of now, the entire company compound is gutted in flames," said the official.
The fire also began corroding the building structure as some portions of the building began to collapse in the face of intense heating. The emanating black smoke billowing from the burning factory blanketed the entire area.
"There were some tanks in the factory that are brimming with 70,000 litre of disel. If flams were to land anywhere near these tanks, the situation would have spiralled out of control," said an official, adding that the fire-fighters were busy securing these tanks.
The police and administration officials claimed ignorance of the reasons that led to blaze sweeping through the entire area. The company workers, however, informed police that that fire occurred around 10 PM. "The workers spotted smoke emanating from the warehouse of the company, a few hours later, the entire company was up in flames," said the official.
Initially, the fire tenders from Neemrana were rushed to the spot. When the fire led to explosion in some gas and chemicals containers, the fire began spread across other wings of the company. "The company's warehouse had stored several inflammable raw material like cotton balls, cloths and fibres, all of which vectored flames across the parts of the unit," the official said, adding that fire had rendered the company completely unable to carry out is productions.
"The company officials said that they have incurred loss of over Rs 100 crore due to the fire," added official.
