Panaji: Goa Forward Party (GFP) on Wednesday finalized plans to launch a membership drive from November 1.

"We held a meeting of the party's core committee chaired by president and town and country planning minister Vijai Sardesai, to discuss plans for expansion of the party base in the state," said chief GFP spokesperson Trajano D'mello.

To a question, he said that the party would expand its base mainly in Congress-ruled constituencies. He also said that as stated by the party president, GFP has been getting a good response from various parts of the state.

Besides Sardesai, the party's two other MLAs who are ministers in the cabinet - housing minister Jayesh Salgaonkar and fisheries minister Vinod Palyekar were also present.

The party has planned a public meeting on Goa's Opinion Poll day in January 2018. Over the next two months, the party plans to make inroads in other constituencies and undertake a massive membership drive.

Members also decided to highlight the achievements of the government.
