The police on Monday arrested Suganthi (19) accused of killing K. Sethuraman (22) in Sulur on Sunday night. Her husband M. Karikalan alias Harish (31) surrendered before a court on Tuesday.
Sethuraman was staying in a rented out house in Sulur Thattan Thottam doing real estate business. Karikalan, his friend, came to the house on Sunday along with Suganthi stating that she was his wife. She was carrying.
Later, a verbal duel broke out between Sethuraman, and Karikalan.
When loud screams emanated from the house, Sukumar, the house-owner went inside and saw Karikalan packing the body of Sethuraman using a bedspread.
Seeing Sukumar, Karikalan, and Suganthi ran away after assaulting him. The police arrested Suganthi from Gobichettipalayam.
Youth held
The police have arrested Prashanth (23), a software engineer, accused of killing Rukshana (21) of Velandipalayam.
She had gone missing on October 16. After tracking her mobile phone, the police caught Prashanth. It was found that her body was buried near the Kallar Horticulture farm near Mettuppalayam.
House burgled
Unidentified persons have stolen jewellery weighing about 130 gm from the house of Perumal (52) of Koilpalayam near Kinathukkadavu, a farmer. The incident occurred when he had gone to Pollachi to visit his daughter who has been admitted to a hospital.
Police inaction alleged
Manipriya (28) of Ganesh Layout in Nallampalayam, along with her three children, have petitioned District Collector seeking help to get back Rs. 4 lakh they had lend to a woman. The petition said that the woman, and her son did not return the money and had asked for Rs. 2 lakh more from them. She said that her complaint to Thudialur Police Station had gone in vain.
Transgenders’ protest
Maya, Laila, and Danushree, all transgenders thronged the Collectorate here stating that a woman and some other transgenders have cheated them of Rs. 3 lakh. They said that the petition submitted to the police had gone in vain.
