More than 60 pourakarmikas held a protest on the premises of the BBMP head office on Wednesday, against the harassment by garbage contractors.
As many as 37 women pourakarmikas were sexually assaulted by garbage contractor Nagesh last week and a complaint was filed at the police station.
Although BBMP commissioner N Manjunath Prasad said the contractor had been blacklisted, the representatives of the BBMP Guttige Pourakarmikara Sangha denied knowledge of any such development.
The workers have threatened to continue their protest till BBMP officials listen to their grievances. However, BBMP officials, on Wednesday, were busy at the diamond jubilee celebration of the Vidhana Soudha.
