Farmers’ stir enters Day 12 in Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer: The mahapadao of farmers continued for 12th day at IGNP in Jaisalmer district over demand for water.


Ramgarh, Mohangarh, Nachna and other towns in canal areas remained closed on Wednesday in support of these farmers' demands. The farmers are ready for head on fight with the government at Mohangarh over their demand for water and are not in mood to call off their mahapadao.


Also all chairmen of water distribution committees' have sent their combined resignation to the chief minister.


The vyapar mandals in these canal areas kept their shops closed in support of the farmers. The farmers have warned that that their agitation will continue till they get water of their share. It is to be mentioned that for long time, these farmers are struggling for water and no one has reached to talk to them. Even the farmers celebrated Diwali festival at the mahapado place. Agitated farmers alleged that they are agitating for last 12 days and government has not ready to listen to demands. They said earlier too they had hold agitation and every time after assurance, they had called off despite that they never got their share of water. This time, the mahapadao will continue till they get water. All efforts made by the district administration and police have failed. Farmers are making efforts to meet the CM. All water distribution committees presidents and members have decided to send mass resignation to CM.
