Manjuka creates new pole vault record

CHENNAI: A Manjuka of MOP Vaishnav College created a new meet record in pole vault by clearing 3.40 meters and bettering her own mark in the women’s section, on the first day of the Dr Sir A Lakshmanasamy Mudaliar Golden Jubilee commemoration athletic meet, organised by University of Madras. Results: Men: 5000m: Mano (Loyola) 15:45.5. Pole Vault: M Thanga Vasanth (Loyola) 4.60m. Hammer throw: Mohamed Rilwan (Loyola) 47.31. 400m hurdles: K Kiran Raj (Loyola) 54.5. 800m: M Raguram (MCC) 1:54.1. Triple jump: M Rohit (DG Vaishnav) 15.44m. Women: 5000m: S Poongodi (Soka Ikeda) 22:23.1. 400m Hurdles: R Vishwapriya (Ethiraj) 1:03.27. Hammer throw: M Brindha (MOP) 44.56 m. High Jump: K Vinotha (MOP) 1.66 m. 800 m: K Priya (Soka Ikeda) 2:12.9. Pole vault: A Manjuka (MOP) 3.40m (NMR).Triple jump: R Aishwarya (MOP) 11.65m. 5km walk: M Santhayi (MOP) 30:21.02.

Ajith shines

P Ajith Kumar’s 5/48 enabled City XI beat Combined Districts by 305 runs in the TNCA U-19 match in Pudukottai. Brief scores: City 422/131 ovs and 212/ 5 decl. in 47.5 ovs (Aditya Barooah 41, Tushar Raheja 68, S Abishiek 44 n.o.) beat Combined Districts 149/53.4 ovs & 180 in 52.3 ovs (Pradosh Ranjan Paul 46, P Ajith Kumar 5/48).

Women selection trials
