A man reportedly threw his three minor daughters from a speeding train in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district, in an apparent attempt to get rid of them.

While one of the girls, aged six died, the other two aged five and eight suffered serious injuries and are being treated at the district hospital.

The police sources here said the father threw the girls one by one while the Jansewa Express train that runs between Amritsar and Saharsa in Bihar was passing through Ramkot railway station in the district on Tuesday.

The two surviving daughters, Albatun Khatoon and Salina Khatoon, told the police that their father, Iddu, a resident of Motihari district in Bihar, threw them from the train after a quarrel with their mother.

Police recovered the body of Munia from near the railway tracks in Manpur area while the two badly wounded girls were found lying near the tracks close to Bhawanipur and Gaura villages respectively.

Iddu’s brother Iqbal, travelling with him, allegedly helped him in perpetrating the crime, sources said. The family was travelling from Ludhiana in Punjab to its native place at Motihari.

Police said the motive behind the crime was not clear though the officials suspected that Iddu might have wanted to get rid of the girls.

The girls were in deep shock and did not want to go back to their parents, the police said. A hunt has been launched to nab the father and his brother, the officials said adding that a case was lodged with the GRP and the civil police in this regard.
