Padmavati song Ghoomar starring Deepika Padukone is out.

When Sanjay Leela Bhansali got Deepika Padukone dancing to “Nagada” in Ram-Leela, we were in awe. Then when he made her shake to the tunes of “Deewani Mastani” in Bajirao Mastani, we knew it was difficult to ignore her aura and grace. It seems the director will never fail to impress us or give us mesmerising situations. Yet again, SLB has made a lasting impression with the very first song of Padmavati, titled “Ghoomar”.

As the song starts, Sanjay Leela Bhansali teleports the audience into his world which is nothing short of perfection. He is known for drawing the best picture about our heritage in his films like Devdas, Bajirao Mastani and Ram-Leela. He falls nothing short of justifying the Rajputana culture, one of it being the Ghoomar dance form, in this track too. His onscreen world is breathtaking, poetic and way beyond words. But the magic begins when Deepika and Shahid Kapoor enter the screen. Deepika starts twirling, the signature style of Ghoomar, and start believing that she is indeed Rani Padmini. Her moves, body language and of course, the beautiful attire, won’t allow you to take your eyes off her. No wonder Sanjay Leela Bhansali believes in making his female characters both strong and beautiful.

Commenting on “Ghoomar”, Deepika said, “The Ghoomar Song has been one of the most difficult song sequences that Sanjay Sir and I have shot for. His vision can be seen in the grandiose of the set and the immense hard work we’ve all put into making it. I had started preparing for this film and character for several months before we actually started filming. But it was for The Ghoomar Song that I walked onto set as ‘Padmavati’ for the very first time. The shooting of Padmavati began with The Ghoomar Song and I will never forget that day. I remember approaching my mark for the first shot and suddenly I felt a chill run through my body. It was almost as if Padmavati‘s soul had entered my body. That feeling still lingers and will continue for years to come”.

The music will remind you of many Rajasthani songs. The song is sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Swaroop Khan. Choreographed by Kruti Mahesh Midya and Ghoomar training by Jyothi D Tommaar, this track, for sure, is going to play on loop for months to come.

Padmavati, starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Aditi Rao Hydari and Jim Sarbh, has been directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Bhansali Productions. It is slated to release on 1st December 2017.
