Senior inspector of Kothrud police station Raghunath Phuge said during the night rounds last week, his team nabbed Shekhar Sheshappa Pujari (57) while he was attempting to break the locks of a school.

"During interrogation, we found that Pujari had a police record and had several cases registered against him with the Pune police," Phuge said.

He admitted to his involvement in six burglaries, including four in Kothrud and two in Hadapsar, since January this year, Phuge added.

Phuge said they also arrested another burglar Atul Chandrakant Amle (22) of Karvenagar and solved four burglaries in Kothrud area.

The duo would commit burglaries at night. "They used to carry out a recce of the locked flat in residential colonies and break the locks. They targetted buildings where there were no security guards," Phuge said.
