HYDERABAD: For the first time, an existing flyover in the city will be extended by 500 metres in lengh by either dismantling the existing 140-150 metre solid ramp or getting it buried during the raising of the existing approach road. The extension of the four-lane existing grade separator at Chandrayangutta has become necessary to relieve the traffic congestion at the junction. The project comprises development of the junction of Barkas Road to Kandilkal Gate and the Inner Ring Road at the end of the flyover.
The GHMC standing committee, which met recently, approved the proposal. It will be placed before the general body which is expected to be held shortly. Once approved, it will be submitted to the state government for administrative sanction. The work is estimated to cost around `37 crore and will be taken up under Phase-II of Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP) in 2017-18.
