As many as 60 cadres of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) were arrested after they burnt the effigy of BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan in protest against her recent statement “defaming” VCK president Thol. Thirumavalavan.
The cadres led by the party’s principal secretary Deva Pozhilan resorted to a road roko in front of the new bus stand on Maraimalai Adigal Salai. While the cadre were raising slogans against Ms. Soundararajan, another section of cadre suddenly burnt her effigy. The police arrested them.
The party cadre wanted the police to arrest Ms. Soundararajan under the SC/ST Atrocities Act.
