Jetpatcher an option for pothole-free roads

| Updated: Oct 26, 2017, 00:12 IST
The civic body has invited bids for pothole repair work with Jetpatcher machines in Pimpri Chinchwad.

This comes three months after the standing committee of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) approved the proposal for the same.

Around five jetpatcher machines will be used to fix the potholes. A PCMC engineer, along with the appointed contractor, will measure the potholes and the defect liability period is one year.

Civic officials said the contractor will take GPS-enabled photographs before undertaking any pothole patch-up work. The contractor will upload these photographs on the PCMC web link. Moreover, he will have to provide all safety equipment to the workers.

The Bombay HC had in October 2015 said PCMC should consider adopting the model of Brihanmumbai Mumbai Corporation, which runs a website, voiceofcitizen.com, wherein citizens can report about potholes.
