GURGAON: Delhi Public School-Ghaziabad (DPSG) parents' association on Wednesday met Gurgaon divisional commissioner D Suresh after the school alleged that many parents had not paid fees since the fee hike in April, and it would not register students for board exams till the dues were cleared. After the meet, D Suresh had a discussion with officials concerned and assured parents that if the school did not change its stand, a strict action would be taken against it.

President of the association, Dev Kumar, said, "We have told the commissioner everything about the fee row. It is an offence to stop the registration of students for board exams. He called the school management in front of us and gave them a warning. Parents are not saying no to paying fee, but they can't pay the exaggerated amount the school is demanding."

Meanwhile, the school denied charging any additional fee. Deepika Sharma, principal of DPSG, said, "There is no new fee structure. The parents need to pay the fee. Service has been provided and they should pay. Till date, they have not. This has nothing to do with the registration."

Asked about the developments in the meeting, D Suresh said, "The parents had come to me with the complaint that the school authorities were asking them to pay higher fees. The higher fees have been declared by the school without unauthorisation by FFRC which I head. I spoke with the principal in front of them, but she denied that she demanded hiked fees. In case, the school asks for higher fees, I'll be forced to intervene once again."

D Suresh also sent parents to the district education officer, Ramkumar Phalaswal, to explain the whole matter.

Phalaswal said, "We have sent an order to DPSG that old fee structure should be taken and not an increased one. If they don't do so then action will be taken against them."
