Suspects came on a high-end bike

In a daring robbery, a motorcycle-borne duo snatched the gold chain of a woman, who was riding pillion on her son’s bike, after pushing them down on College Road on Monday night.

Police said Revathi, 52, was proceeding to the Egmore railway station along with her son Mahesh Raj, 32, a resident of NGO Colony in Vadapalani.

While they were near the WCC campus on College Road, two persons on a high-end bike rammed their two-wheeler. In the impact, Mahesh Raj lost control of his vehicle, and he and his mother fell on the road.

The motorcyclists then snatched the eight-sovereign chain Ms. Revathi was wearing and sped away. The victims lodged a complaint with the Nungambakkam police station.

A senior police officer said that preliminary investigation had revealed that the suspects were very young. “We are analysing CCTV footage from the area and previous modus operandi,” he said.
