Chandrapur: A 10-year-old girl was injured in a leopard attack, while a bunch of other children had close a shave at Badkini village in Brahmapuri tehsil in the early hours on Tuesday.

Akshara Shende, who was injured in the attack, has been admitted to the rural hospital at Armori in Gadchiroli district.

On Tuesday, while the kids were running along Badkini-Chichgaon road, the leopard pounced on Akshara. The other kids stopped and tried to scare the beast away. Akshara escaped with an injury on her right leg as the leopard fled away.

Vinod Zodge, leader of Kisan Sabha, claimed that the same leopard had tried to attack some commuters on the bike on the same road earlier.

He said people in the area are terrified of the leopard and has demanded immediate measures to capture the animal.
