NEW DELHI: Minister of state for external affairs VK Singh is in Iraq to meet senior officials to coordinate the search operations for the 39 missing Indians and find concrete information related to their whereabouts.
In a statement yesterday, the Iraqi embassy here said Iraq and India continue their close cooperation in order to find the location of the missing Indians who were kidnapped by ISIS terrorist group in June 2014.
"Further coordination has been done between India and Iraq to provide the latter with DNA samples of relatives of the missing Indians, as a matter of routine procedure, to help Iraqi investigators in their search to verify the identity of the thousands of victims left by ISIS, whether alive or exhumed bodies, as a number of mass graves have been discovered in the areas that were under ISIS control," it said.
