HYDERABAD: A division bench of the High Court on Tuesday directed the AP government authorities concerned to explain about the steps being taken to contain diseases like malaria, dengue and eradicate mosquito menace in Guntur and Visakhapatnam districts.

The bench of acting chief justice Ramesh Ranganathan and justice M Ganga Rao was dealing with a taken-up PIL case based upon a letter written by Dr  Mohammed Riaz Ahmed, a Homeo physician from Visakhapatnam, stating that due to unhygienic conditions the people in these two districts are suffering from malaria and dengue fevers  due to breeding of mosquitoes and flies. The bench directed the commissioners of Guntur and Visakhapatnam municipal corporations, district collectors, health officers, principal secretary to health to file counter affidavits and adjourned case by two weeks.
