An art fest that’s easy on the pocket
TNN | Oct 26, 2017, 03:53 ISTPanaji: On the occasion of the Museum of Goa's (MOG) second anniversary on November 6, the first edition of Goa Affordable Art Fest (GAAF) is being organised from December 17, 2017 to February 28, 2018, at it's premises in Pilerne.
MOG's directors, Subodh Kerkar and Siddharth Kerkar told reporters that GAAF will be inaugurated by Padma Shree awardee Amitav Ghosh on December 17 at 6pm.
Kerkar said, "MOG is seeking to break cultural barriers by taking contemporary art to a broader audience. GAAF-17 is a collateral event of the popular Serendipity Arts Festival Goa, 2017 which will be held from December 15 to 22 in Panaji. GAAF-17 will feature contemporary artworks of approximately 50 eminent artists such as Riyas Komu (Kerala), Debashish Barua (Assam), Narendra Yadav, Mala Shrivastav, Sweety Joshi, Sanjay Sawant, Sunil Patwardan, Krishnamachari Bose among various others. Besides, hundreds of emerging talents who have been selected by a committee comprising of Germany's Galerie Muller and Plate, Munich director Peter Mueller and myself."
"This curated festival will exhibit over a thousand paintings, sculptures, photographs and prints from all over the country and abroad. All these works will be priced within an affordable range of Rs 3,000 to Rs 1 lakh. Since our objective is to enthuse the general public to appreciate, connect and collect art, GAAF will also provide a platform to budding talented artists to display their works alongside established names in this field," Kerkar said.
