The department and Centre for Women Studies & Development and PUCASH, Panjab University, organised a workshop on gender sensitisation and awareness about Sexual Harassment Act-2013 on Tuesday. The event started with a short film on sexual harassment at workplace, followed by an interactive session regarding various aspect of sexual harassment.

Dr Ameer Sultana, DCWSD chairperson, and Manvinder Kaur, PUCASH chairperson, stressed that sexual harassment at workplace is a critical issue with more women entering the sphere of paid employment. The Supreme Court has recognized it as a component of the right to work with dignity. In view of this, sexual harassment (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, requires creating of awareness and sensitisation regarding sexual harassment in work places. The details regarding provisions for prevention, prohibition and redressal of sexual harassment were elaborated.
