Kapil Sharma on his alleged breakup: I haven’t opened up so much, that I’ll speak about this

Kapil Sharma addressed the media at the trailer launch of Firangi.

Controversy and Kapil Sharma seem to have found a deep connection. In the last few months, the comedy star has been deep into controversies surrounding his alcoholism, unprofessionalism, end of his dream project The Kapil Sharma Show and of course his love life. Kapil was rumoured to be in a relationship with his show’s Creative Director Preeti Simoes. But surprising all, Kapil tweeted his pictures with childhood sweetheart Ginni Chatrath proving otherwise. Now, in the recent turn of events happening in Kapil’s life, there was also a strong buzz that he has broken up with Ginni and that Preeti had a hand in the same.

At the trailer launch of his much awaited movie Firangi, Kapil opened up in front of the media like never before sharing his side of the story that till now was kept as a secret. Kapil spoke about his fallout with good friend and co-star Sunil Grover, how the negative news about him made him depressed and suicidal and he went on a self destruction spree. He shared that he lost faith and confidence in himself and rather than continuing to cancel shoots and creating a further buzz, he decided to take a break from work. Now on his path to well being, Kapil is looking ahead to the release of Firangi, that he has also produced.

While he poured his heart out on his professional issues, indianexpress.com asked Kapil about his alleged break up. In his own inimitable style, the actor replied, “Very nice question but no comments.” After erupting into laughter, he added, “Itna open bhi nahi hu main ke inn sab ke baare mein baat karu (I haven’t opened up this much as yet, that I will speak about this).”

When we further prodded him whether his reported fallout with Preeti caused more trouble in his life, he quipped, “Aaj bhi bohot pyaar hai unke sath (Even today, I have a lot of love for her). There are some relationships that you cannot fit into terms like affair, dating and breakup. I am 36 now and all I can say is that I have a lot of shortcomings. I am used to taking big life decisions but sometimes I have issues on deciding the small things in life.”

 

Even when Kapil did not give a clear reply to these blazing queries, his cryptic answers did hint on an underlying tension between him and Preeti, and his alleged breakup.

Directed by Kapil’s childhood friend Rajiev Dhingra, Firangi also stars Ishita Dutta, Monica Gill,Edward Sonnenblick, Kumud Mishra, Rajesh Sharma, Inaamulhaq, Aanjjan Srivastav, Jameel Khan and Vishal O Sharma. The film will release on 24 November.
