LDF activists accord reception to Janajagratha Yatra

The north zone Janajagratha Yatra of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) led by Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan started its tour of the district on Monday.

LDF workers in large numbers received the yatra at Taliparamba and Sreekantapuram here in the morning. In his addresses, Mr. Balakrishnan took a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Janaraksha Yatra held earlier this month and BJP national president Amit Shah who had joined the yatra in Kannur and Thiruvananthapuram.

Mr. Balakrishnan said at the public function at Taliparamba that the BJP, which had conducted ‘gau raksha yatras’ elsewhere in the country was trying to create problems in the State by holding Janaraksha Yatra.

Mr. Amit Shah who addressed the Janaraksha Yatra at Payyannur was now engaged in saving his son, he said, adding that Mr. Shah had skipped his much-publicised march to Pinarayi.

Communist Party of India leader Velikkath Raghavan presided. CPI(M) leader M.V. Govindan and CPI leader Sathyan Mokeri were among those who spoke.

At Sreekantapram, P.K. Sreemathy, MP, CPI(M) district secretary P. Jayarajan, and CPI district secretary P. Santhosh Kumar, were present. The yatra was also received at Thalassery in the afternoon.
