I-T raids on KSPCB Chairman

The business and residential premises of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) Chairman Lakshman was on Tuesday searched by Income Tax sleuths for alleged undisclosed income.

Sources in the I-T Department said four premises, including two residences at Sadashivnagar and Basaveshwaranagar, were searched by different teams. His office at Parisara Bhavan, the headquarters of KSPCB on Church Street here, was also searched, sources said and added that the raid started in the morning and could continue till late in the night.

“Mr. Lakshman was into real estate business before he became the KSPCB Chairman. The searches on his premises is on suspicion of undeclared wealth,” sources said.

They said that he is currently developing a layout in partnership with a government official, and his main business interest is in land. He is also closely associated with some top leaders in the ruling dispensation.
