No suicide note found

The Antop Hill police have launched an investigation into the suicide of a 21-year-old man, who was found dead in his house on Monday.

The Antop Hill police said the deceased has been identified as Krishna Devendra. The police said neighbours found Devendra dead in his house around 10 a.m. on Monday and informed the Mumbai Police Control Room. The information was then passed on to the Antop Hill police, which sent a team to the spot. Krishna was rushed to Sion Hospital where he was declared dead before admission.

An officer with Antop Hill police said, “No suicide note was found on Krishna’s person or in his house. Prima facie he is believed to have taken the extreme step due to his compulsive drinking habits and other personal issues he was facing.”

The police have registered an Accidental Death Report in connection with the incident and are conducting further inquiries. The police over the next few days will be recording statements from Krishna’s friends and family members. They will also examine his call and text message records to check whether he had been contemplating taking his life. The police will make inquiries to ascertain whether there are grounds to register an abetment to suicide case against anyone.
