GURGAON: A 30 year old IT professional from Pune, who had recently moved to Gurgaon after she got a job with American Express, was found dead in her apartment on Monday.

Police said Mayura Sode had committed suicide and left behind a note apologising to her parents and saying that her love life had failed. She did not blame anyone for the step she had taken, investigators said.

On Monday evening, two of Mayura's friends had gone to her flat at Mahindra Aura in New Palam Vihar after repeated attempts to reach her over the phone failed. They noticed the lights were on inside, but there was no response when they knocked on the door.

The friends called guards at the condominium, who peeped through an open window to find Mayura hanging from a ceiling fan, police said. Cops from nearby Bajghera police station reached the scene soon after.

Police said Mayura had been working with the Amex for the last four months. She had leased EWS flat number 213 on the second floor of a tower at Mahindra Aura in Sector 109, one of the city's new sectors. Her friends Ankur Mishra and VK Mishra reached her apartment around 9pm on Monday to check on her.

Police said a one-page suicide note was found near her body. "In her note, she said sorry mummy-papa, I cannot carry forward. She said she had failed in her love life," inspector Deepak Kumar, the SHO of Bajghera police station, said.

"After getting information, her father Manohar Ramdas Sode and family members reached Gurgaon on Tuesday. They too did not blame anyone. We handed over her body after an autopsy. She might have committed suicide during the day. When we reached her flat, her body was found hanging from a duppatta from the fan," Kumar added.

Ankur refused to comment when contacted. Mayura has an elder sister. According to her LinkedIn profile, she used to work as a research analyst in an ITeS company in Pune.
