By air and on the ground, Eagles’ Wentz baffles the Redskins

On a night when nothing was going right, Carson Wentz kick-started the Eagles. All he had to do was his impression of Hall of Fame scrambler Steve Young, who just happened to be in the house. The final score was deceptive, the Eagles securing a 34-24 decision over the Washington Redskins for their fifth straight victory and a 6-1 record, their best start since they went to the Super Bowl in the almost magical 2004 season.

McCaffery: New weight of expectation could not bring Eagles down

The Eagles left Charlotte in first place and in a glow of new celebrity. How they would spend the next 11 days would reveal if any of it was real. They were 5-1 and a robust 5-1, without a loss in the conference and with a road win already in the division. And with that, they would become a trend. They would ring bells at Sixers games and make TV appearances and enjoy every moment of what could have been a cruel NFL schedule-maker’s joke.

Eagles Notebook: Birds’ win comes at a heavy injury cost

In a physical affair that brought back memories of the 1990 Body Bag game, the Eagles lost starters Jordan Hicks and Jason Peters indefinitely in their 34-24 win over the Redskins Monday. Hicks went down in the first half with what was announced as an ankle injury. Peters hurt his knee on the first possession of the third quarter.

Souderton hears plan to reopen Broad Theater

Like a lot of other people, Kyle Hoff remembers going on dates with his wife to the Broad Theater. Unlike a lot of other people, Hoff has restored several old industrial buildings, including the one in which the district court in Harleysville is located, the one where Broad Street Grind is in Souderton, and the Telford one that houses Popcorn Works.

Jury deliberating fate of accused Lower Pottsgrove gun trafficker and accomplice

A Montgomery County jury apparently has reached a partial verdict at the combined trial of a Lower Pottsgrove man accused of operating a gun trafficking network and one of his alleged Philadelphia conspirators. After nearly four hours of deliberations on Monday, jurors notified Judge Garrett D. Page they had reached a verdict regarding only one of the defendants and indicated they were “struggling” on reaching a unanimous verdict in the case against the second defendant. However, jurors did not reveal for which defendant – Michael Hill or Anthony “Tek” Walker - they had reached a verdict.
