Nalco plans projects worth Rs 8 cr for Angul

BHUBANESWAR: With an aim to bring about all-round development of Angul district, Nalco plans to invest around `8 crores towards different projects for the financial year 2017-18. These projects include water supply to toilets constructed under Swachh Vidalaya Abhiyan, provision of piped-water supply to periphery villages, construction of classrooms, urban plantation, renovation of water bodies, rural infrastructure projects, education, healthcare services and skill development for bridging the gap of existing contractual workers and unemployed youths of the district. 

This apart, Nalco, for the first time, is also in the process of implementing an integrated Health Management System including digitisation of health records for villagers in peripheral areas. Similarly, the company will also put up solar lighting facilities in villages.

Nalco has provided employment to more than 6500 locals directly and indirectly. Under the company’s CSR initiatives, the company has been providing healthcare services in 44 villages through three mobile units and two OPDs besides setting up a proposed modern eye hospital in association with LV Prasad Eye Institute with an investment of `16.62 crore. This apart, 185 toilets have been constructed in 91 schools at an expenditure of `2.3 crores. Nalco has also invested `16 crores to set up a defluoridation plant to remove fluoride from water.
