No case against doc under POCSO Act: Police

KOCHI: The police on Monday informed the Kerala High Court it has submitted a report before the Pathanamthitta Judicial First Class Magistrate Court seeking to remove the offence under POCSO Act charged against a doctor who allegedly denied medical treatment to a sexually abused five-year-old girl. It also sought permission to include Section 166 A (public servant disobeying direction under law) and 166 B (punishment for non-treatment of a victim).
In an explanatory note, D Rajesh Kumar, Sub Inspector of Police, Koipuram, submitted it had sought a legal opinion from the special prosecutor handling POCSO cases in Pathanamthitta district before incorporating the provisions under the POCSO Act against the doctor.
