The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) – 2018 will be held in pen-paper based (offline) mode on April 8. However, the dates for the online mode have not been announced. Every year, CBSE conducts the main exam while the JEE Advanced, this year, will be organised by IIT Kanpur. The exam is held for admission in the various undergraduate courses in IITs/NITs/IIITs and such other CFTIs.

Qualifying marks: The candidates need to secure a minimum of 75 per cent marks in the class 12 examination or be in the top 20 percentile in the to be eligible to sit for the JEE Main 2018. For SC/ST students the qualifying marks would be 65 per cent.

The Joint Admission Board (JAB) has recently taken a decision to increase the number of eligible candidates from 2.20 lakh to 2.24 lakh for JEE Advanced 2018. Moreover, the exam will be held on May 20.

JEE Main 2018 notification is expected to release by the third week of November. All those aspirants who are waiting for the JEE Main 2018 application forms have to remember that since last year, CBSE has made Aadhaar number mandatory for JEE Main and NEET and other examinations. Therefore, it is advisable to apply for the Aadhaar card, if not done yet.

Last year, the exam was held on April 2 and Kalprit Veerwal topped the exam with a perfect 360/360 marks. Nearly 12 lakh students sit for the entrance exam every year.

Age limit: The student must be born on or after October 1, 1993 (or be 25 years old) to meet the eligibility criteria. In case of SC/ST/PwD candidates, the age criteria have been relaxed by 5 years.
