JAIPUR: Chaotic scenes were witnessed in the house on Tuesday as Congress MLAs staged a sit-in in the well of their house, over their demand of a total loan waiver for the farmers of the state. The Congress MLAs continued their dharna in the well even after the proceedings for the day were over. "The Congress has been demanding a complete crop loan waiver for some time but we are not being allowed to raise the issue in the house.
The government is avoiding a discussion or debate over it and has put a crucial decision on the back burner by announcing a high-powered committee," said leader of opposition Rameshwar Dudi, who first raised the issue of crop loan waiver at the start of the question hour on Tuesday. As the Congress MLAs continued to raise slogans and walked into the well over their demand, the house was adjourned till 1 pm.
The opposition, however, continued with their protest after the house gathered again at 1 pm and the Congress accused the government of not being serious in resolving the issues of the farmers. "Several farmers across the state have committed suicide and are facing several problems and yet, the government is not serious its approach," alleged Congress deputy whip Govind Singh Dotasara, who sought to draw attention of the House towards the issue but was not allowed.
Uproar was witness as the Congress MLAs raised slogans for almost as hour, while the Speaker Kailash Meghwal continued with the proceedings. Later, with no heed being paid to their protest, nearly a dozen Congress MLAs staged a dharna in the well. Dudi soon joined the MLAs in the dharna and announced that the Congress MLAs would stage a dharna through the night on Tuesday.
