Parl panel questions govt officials on Aadhaar data safety

A parliamentary panel today questioned top officials over the issue of safety of the data.

At a meeting of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs here, the officials were asked how safety of data was being ensured since it is now being linked with mobile numbers and accounts, said a member who was present.


The meeting of the committee, headed by senior leader and former Home Minister P Chidambaram, was attended by Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba, Director General of and some other senior officials.

The officials offered assurance that the data is in safe custody and the all required steps are being taken to ensure that it cannot be breached, the member said on the condition of anonymity.
