Diwali 2017 best and worst dressed: From Sridevi's flawless family to Shilpa Shetty's terrible tassels
Diwali came and Diwali went, but what it left us with (apart from a sweet little paunch cause of all dem sweets) was some serious #FashionGoals. Bollywood decided to put its grand, most elegant foot forward, as we saw a barrage of the Who's Who of Tinsel Town dressed to the nines attending Diwali parties in quick succession. There was also the (usual) crop of celebrities that made us cringe (read: cry).
So without further ado, we bring to you the Best and Worst Dressed from Diwali 2017.
Best Dressed
Sridevi (and her whole damn family)
Sridevi Boney Kapoor is a goddess. As is her entire well-dressed, flawless, gorgeous family. Both daughters Jahnavi and Khushi Kapoor looked like they were ready to make their Bollywood debut's in an opulent Karan Johar movie at any moment. Even her husband Boney Kapoor got with it and cut a fashionable picture.
Sonam Kapoor
Sonam Kapoor threw a massive Diwali party which saw almost all the big stars of Bollywood in attendance, and then she showed up looking like this. I guess they don't call her the fashionable diva of Bollywood for nothing.
Kareena Kapoor
Kareena Kapoor Khan may be a mummy but she's still sure as hell yummy! The actor carried off her elegant look with aplomb (after all she's a Pataudi now) and looked like nothing short of a pataka (cracker) this Diwali season.
Karisma Kapoor
Elegance personified, the other Kapoor sister made it on to our best dressed list too. Wearing a simple and understated saree with just the right amount of jewelry and make-up, Karisma Kapoor knocked it out of the park.
Karan Johar
Every once in a while Karan Johar takes his flamboyant and exxxtra personality and puts it to good use. Like this gorgeous mirror-work Diwali kurta which had us turn our heads twice. Once at him and once at our own reflection.
Worst Dressed
Ekta Kapoor
Ekta Kapoor looks like an aunty from one of her own television shows — and that's all we have to say about this look.
Deepika Padukone
Floating Lanterns.
Oh sorry, we thought we were playing the game where we say the first word that comes to our mind when we see something. Deepika Padukone can do no wrong, especially when it comes to fashion — except the times that she does. This is all we could think of when we saw this saree.
Karan Johar
Butterflies, really?
Karan, how many times do we have to remind you that you are not a teenage girl fawning over One Direction?
Arjun Kapoor
Not sure if Arjun Kapoor or a bottle of Ujala?
Shilpa Shetty
It seems as if Shilpa Shetty went to her designer and said "Put everything that has been a fashion faux pas in the last 20 years and create my Diwali outfit", because really, what's not wrong in this look? The tassels? (which make her top look like an overused mop) The embellishments? (it's like she wasn't taught the word no) The completely mismatched green neck-piece with her white-baby pink-yellow-silver outfit?
Special Mention - Sonakshi Sinha
A special mention to the Dabangg girl Sonakshi Sinha. We don't think this classifies under best or worst dressed — it just reminded us of cotton candy, and cotton candy always deserves a special mention.
