The village office bags ISO certification for excellence in service

Kavanur village office in the district’s Eranad taluk has won a unique distinction by being the first ISO certified high-tech village in the country. Kavanur has won the ISO certification not only for high efficiency, but also for excellence in service.

Visitors to the village office will feel the difference the moment they step into the premises.

The front office is set in such a way as to guide the visitors to fulfil their objective in a hassle-free fashion. The waiting room is not only spacious enough to accommodate quite a few visitors but also furnished with a television and journals. The air-conditioned village office also has a feeding room for mothers.

Name, designation and service of each employee are displayed behind their chairs. Electronic punching machine will ensure the presence of the employees in the office.

“Kavanur village office transformed itself into a modern, digital office even as preparations are on to digitalise the State’s revenue offices,” said District Collector Amit Meena here on Tuesday.

The village office has its own mobile application and website to help the people. The website offers not only the details of the services available for the people, but also comprehensive information about the village.

Mr. Meena said that six closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras were functioning at the village office as part of enhancing its efficiency.

Live visuals

Live visuals can be watched from the offices of the Revenue Minister, District Collector, Revenue Divisional Officer, and taluk officer. “This will help us ensure that the village office is corruption-free and people-friendly,” Mr. Meena.

Unlike the conventional village offices, piled up files will not greet the visitors at Kavanur. Files are stashed neatly in shelves and record books are maintained for fast retrieval of files. The record room is spacious enough to hold conferences.

People of Kavanur have been encouraged to drop their suggestions in a box. Officials said the village development council envisioned by the government eight years ago was in full bloom at Kavanur.
