65% Interns Feel Bullied At Work: TimesJobs

Almost 44 percent candidates who have interned at least once during their career state their internship experience to be highly stressful, finds a survey of over 1,200 candidates by TimesJobs.

Nearly 65 percent of the interns feel they have been bullied during the internship, according to the survey report, while 35 percent do not believe so.

On a scale of 1-5, 36 percent of the respondents rated stress during the internship on a level 4, while 29 percent rated stress on a level of 3 during the internship period.

Talking about the seriousness of work during the internship period, the respondents rated it on level 4, on a scale of 1 to 5. Twenty eight percent interns rated seriousness on a scale of 4, while only 1 percent rated it on a scale of 1.

Most stressful situation in office for interns was the lack of ideation. 50 percent of the interns said ideation was a major issue while working in the office. Giving presentations was another major issue with 20 percent candidates agreeing to it.

Work given is a major reason for stress, nearly 43 percent of interns suffering from stress due to work given. Bearing expenses has been difficult for interns and is a reason for stress in 21 percent of the interns. Converting the internship into a job causes stress in 36 percent of the interns.

Almost two-third of the interns said they think companies often exploit their interns, and 30 percent believe opposite of it.
