Man shoots self with ‘illegal gun’, kin booked for misleading police

A man convicted in a murder case allegedly shot himself with an illegal weapon in Khanna’s Alipur village Monday. Later, the younger brother of the accused tried to mislead the police alleging that it was a murder.He also hid the weapon used.

However, after a few hours, he confessed to the police that he tried to hide that his brother committed suicide. The police have arrested him for cheating and giving false information.

The deceased, identified as Jaspreet Singh(31), was found dead at his residence on Monday. The bullet pierced his head from the right side and came out from the left. He was out of Nabha Jail on a parole since October 7. He had allegedly murdered his neighbour in 2009 and came out on parole two weeks ago.
