Rs 6.92 lakh crore road projects unveiled for mega infra booster

With a view to improving infrastructure sector in the country, the government on Tuesday announced to build 83,677 km of roads along with an investment of Rs 6.92 lakh crore over the next five years.
The government has already cleared Rs 5.35 lakh crore for Bharatmala Road Project. Around 34,800 km of road will be constructed under the road projects.
Around Rs 2.09 lakh crore will be raised from the market and Rs 1.06 lakh crore via private investment and Rs 2.19 lakh crore from CRF/ ToT / Toll for funding Bharatmala Project.
In other to push rural connectivity, Rs 88,185 crore will be spent by the Centre and the states over the next next years and 1,09,302 km of rural roads to be laid to cover 36,434 habitations.
In addition to this, roads worth Rs 11,725 crore for 5,411 km of upgradation and new roads in 44 LWE districts to be completed by 2019-20.
