Crude oil futures surge 0.80 pc on overseas cues

futures rose by 0.80 per cent to Rs 3,422 per barrel today as speculators raised their bets amid a firm trend overseas.

In futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude for December delivery was trading higher by Rs 27, or 0.80 per cent at Rs 3,422 per barrel in 63 lots.


On similar lines, crude for delivery in November was trading higher by Rs 26, or 0.77 per cent at Rs 3,398 per barrel in a business turnover of 3,852 lots.

Analysts said rise in futures was largely attributed to raising of bets by participants in tandem with a firming trend in global market.

Meanwhile, at the US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude prices surged 0.50 per cent to USD 52.10 a barrel and Brent crude climbed 0.24 per cent, to USD 57.89 a barrel.
