“I have taken the responsibility to collect such abandoned idols by launching a week-long drive called Mankameshwar clean city. On the first day, we went to Nehru Bal Vatika in Aliganj sector C to collect abandoned idols,” she said.
Devya Giri and her team reached Nehru Bal Vatika in Aliganj at 6 am and collected piles of abandoned idols. Simultaneously, a similar campaign was carried out in Gomti Nagar and Mankameshwar area. Devya Giri appealed to the residents to give away old idols of gods and goddesses at Mankameshwar ghat within a week so that they could be disposed of properly.
