While the rest of his India teammates were excelling in different continents over the last six months, M. Vijay was going through a rigorous rehab after a wrist injury sidelined him after the series against Australia in March.
As a result, on a day he earned a return to India’s Test squad, Vijay hoped to spend quality time at the crease in Tamil Nadu’s Ranji Trophy clash against Mumbai rather than worry about challenges lying ahead. “I have played four to five games this season after my injury, so obviously I am looking forward for the game here now. Having some batting time will be great for me,” he said on Monday.
“Mentally I have always been up there, now I have to go out there and play freely leaving pressure behind.”
