Complaints against auto drivers

BHUBANESWAR: A woman lodged a complaint with Commissionerate Police on Sunday alleging misbehaviour by an auto-rickshaw driver near Dhauli. The 21-year-old woman, a native of Bisuniapada village in Balipatna district, alleged that she boarded an auto-rickshaw near her house on Sunday to visit Bhubaneswar. She claimed that the auto-driver was known to her and also works as a home guard in Commissionerate Police. The woman stated that the auto-driver stopped near Dhauli and asked her to accompany him to a nearby market. When she refused he went alone but only returned sometime later and attempted to molest and manhandle her, the complainant stated.
She managed to flee from the spot and approached Dhauli police."We have detained the auto-driver and are investigating the matter," Dhauli police said.In another incident, Commissionerate Police arrested an auto-rickshaw driver for physically assaulting a woman and snatching her mobile phone on Sunday. He has been identified as Hemant Routray of Aurobinda Nagar Basti in Chandrasekharpur.The woman, a resident of Gajapati Nagar, alleged that she was going in the auto-rickshaw when the driver and his associates physically assaulted her and snatched her mobile phone.
